Bridging the Strength and Craft of
Small and Medium-Sized Shipbuilding to the Future

Preface

Since the establishment of our association in 1959, we have implemented various initiatives to modernize and streamline the small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry, to enhance its technical skills, and to promote international cooperation. We have made significant contributions to the progress and development of the small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry and related sectors which support maritime logistics and transportation both domestically and globally.
This achievement is entirely thanks to the support and guidance of the Japanese government, the Nippon Foundation, and other relevant parties.
Today, the performance and requirements demanded of vessels supplied by the small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry and related sectors are undergoing significant changes, particularly in response to new marine fuels. Furthermore, from an economic security perspective, the shipbuilding industry is required to ensure a stable supply of vessels under the strategy that “Vessels contributing to maritime transport for Japan should be built by Japanese shipbuilders.”
To meet these needs, we are actively working to establish a new design support system in cooperation with domestic and international design resources and universities. We are also trying to establish innovative and sustainable construction systems to maintain a stable supply of ships. for the small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry that address the current labor shortage, by incorporating highly productive methods from other industries, digital transformation (DX), automation systems, and remote management systems.
Our association is committed to contributing to the development of new maritime transportation systems that meet diverse social needs. It is also committed to helping the small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry and related sectors to meet society’s demands, and to striving to support the future growth and prosperity of our customers' businesses.

We look forward to your continued support.
